Transportation to School
Bus Transportation and Safety Rules:
1. Children are to board and leave the bus in a safe manner. Running is not permitted when
entering or exiting the bus.
2. Children must sit and remain in their seats until they reach their assigned bus stop. Children must use the seat belt when available on the bus.
3. Children must respect each other and the bus driver.
The bus driver will report students who misbehave or compromise the safety of the children on the bus to the principal. Parents will be notified, and appropriate action will be taken, which may include suspension from the bus. To ensure that all children will have a safe bus ride, please review these rules with your children.
Children may not ride home on any bus other than the one to which they are assigned. Guests are not permitted to ride the bus.
Arrival at School:
Students should not arrive at school prior to 8:00 a.m. as there is no supervision.
By Car: The CP driveway is a fire lane: do not leave your vehicle unattended in the driveway during drop-off or pick-up times. Parking or double-parking in the driveway creates a potentially hazardous situation. Please do not park in designated staff spaces. You may also drop-off or pick-up your child from the municipal pool parking lot or the tennis court parking lot. This alternative relieves congestion in the driveway, and on Witherspoon Street.
Handicapped parking spaces are available for cars with appropriate handicapped designations. For your information, the Community Park parking lot is patrolled by the Princeton Township Police Department. Tickets are issued to violators of the posted parking restrictions.
Walkers: Students walking to school should enter the building through the main entrance. Prior to 8:20 a.m., they will be sent to the CP All-Purpose Room where school aides will supervise them. School crossing guards are on duty from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. and from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. to assist children. The Princeton Township Police Department determines the placement of crossing guards for Community Park School.
Bicycles: Children riding bicycles to school may not ride their bikes on school grounds. There are bike racks at CP: a lock is strongly recommended to secure the bicycle. Helmets are required by law. Bicycles may not be stored inside the building, but helmets may be stored in the classroom.
By Bus: Children arriving by bus enter school by the main door.
Late Arrival: (After 8:25 a.m.) Students should report to the school secretary in the CP Main Office. The secretaries will direct them to their classrooms. Please remember: tardiness is disruptive to your child and to your child’s classroom. Parents will be notified by mail of excessive tardiness.
