Mrs. Thomas' Class - Responsive Classroom
Responsive Classroom:
The approach to teaching I use in my classroom to build a caring community in which social and academic learning are fully intergrated.
Our Class Rules Are:
1. Be Responsible. (Follow routines, hand in homework, participate, take care of yourself, etc.)
2. We treat each other the way we want to be treated.
3. Respect our classroom. (Put things back where you found them, draw in our sketchbook not our other books, take care of the materials so others can use them, etc.)
We make mistakes and break rules occassionally. In our classroom we use logical consequences. This means the consequence fits the rule-breaking.
Our 3 logical consequences are:
1. You break it, you fix it. (For example, If something ripes, tape or glue it back together. If someone's feelings get hurt, fix them by saying or doing something nice.)
2. Loss of privledge. (Games were not put away after indoor recess. Results in, games can not be used for a period of time. Students working too noisily, after a warning, no taking during that work time.)
3. Apology of Acition. (Sorry just is not enough sometimes. You must do something to show you are sorry. Sometimes it is as simple as spending extra time with the person who was hurt.)
